Polar Bear Foundation Announces Executive Director Search

A flexible position for someone passionate about education and a Central Pennsylvania Community

The Polar Bear Foundation (PBF) of Northern York County School District is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational organization dedicated to investing in creative, innovative, and exceptional opportunities for students attending Northern.

​

The Polar Bear Foundation (PBF) was established in 2007 and through its first decade provided funds for numerous programs across all grade levels in projects related to academics, athletics, the arts, parent engagement, emotional well-being and more. With exciting 10-year goals in place the PBF looks for leadership to grow and succeed.

​

The Position:

  • The Executive Director will be afforded great latitude to develop and implement projects that support the needs of the NYCSD.

  • The Executive Director will serve as the primary liaison between the school district and the PBF, and as such will ensure that Foundation initiatives align with District priorities.

  • The Executive Director will be dedicated to seeking funding sources for the priorities identified by the PBF.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Passion for student learning, public education, and enthusiasm for the NYCSD community

  • Excellent written and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated success in development/fundraising

  • Strong organizational skills including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation

  • Ability to interface, organize, and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups

  • Four-year degree plus three (3) or more years working in the non-profit arena preferred

  • Marketing experience a plus

  • Knowledge of and adept use of social media and electronic communication

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement annual budget

  • Supervise and collaborate with PBF’s Administrative Assistant

  • Report to and work closely with Board of Directors

  • Serve as the primary public face for the organization by representing the PBF at school and community events

  • Develop resources sufficient to ensure the long-term financial health of the organization

  • Meet with district personnel to encourage collaboration and align priorities

Location: The Polar Bear Foundation serves the Northern York County School District, which encompasses Carroll, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington, and Washington Townships as well as Dillsburg, Franklintown, and Wellsville Boroughs in York County.

​

Compensation: Salary of $30,000 per year for an expected 20 hours per week of work.
