On Tuesday, February 28th the Polar Bear Foundation proudly presented the Northern York County School Board with a check for $403,134.77 to fund Lobar Inc. Field, the district’s new state of the art, turf athletic field. In addition to this check, the Foundation expressed gratitude to various businesses including Lobar Inc., Pennsy Supply, Crabtree Rohrbaugh Associates, and Remcon for in-kind donations towards this project. The Foundation worked to facilitate a grant- in partnership with Representative Dawn Keefer and Senator Mike Regan for improvements at Bostic Field and new construction at Lobar Inc. Field. Through these combined efforts, the Foundation was able to directly and indirectly raise about $1.4 Million for this project.
The construction of Lobar Inc. Field allows for Northern’s athletic programs to host a variety of events they previously were not able to host, including playoff games. All of these efforts are the culmination of over five years of work by the Foundation, the Turf Field Committee, and the district administration. This project is proof of the power a community can have when it comes together for a common effort. In the famous words of the voice of Northern, “It’s a great day to be a Polar Bear!”
This spring, come out to Lobar Inc Field to watch boys and girls lacrosse compete on the turf field.
